“ALL-UKRAINIAN LEAGUE OF AUTHORS” (Kyiv, Ukraine), theater VIKART (Helsinki, Finland) and ZENTRUM FUR KUNST, KULTUR UND BILDUNG EV (Düsseldorf, Germany) with the support of the European Union launched the TAW (“Theatre and War) project and announced a competition of drama works for the theater.
The project is aimed at popularizing modern Ukrainian drama and national theater. Its ultimate goal is to hold a festival of Ukrainian drama in Helsinki (Finland), which was created during Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine and reflects the reaction of Ukrainian society to it.
Drama texts written between February 24, 2022 and February 28, 2024, submitted to the competition and recommended by the Expert Council will be selected for representation at the festival. From the Ukrainian side, it includes Serhii Vasiliev, Maryna Kotelenets, and Kseniia Reutova.
It is planned to prepare 12 performances: 6 – by Finnish theaters, 2 – by a German art center and 4 – by Ukrainian theaters.
Small form texts (for the chamber stage) are accepted for the competition.
